Who am I ?

I’m Laurie Capovilla, Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist.
I have a particular interest in complex digestive conditions like SIBO, IBS, and IBD, which make up the core of my practice. I’m drawn to the challenge of untangling complex symptoms and working collaboratively to find realistic, sustainable solutions.
That said, I remain a generalist at heart. I value the diversity of seeing a wide range of clients: it keeps my practice dynamic and my perspective well-rounded.
Outside of digestive care, I also support individuals managing conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and other metabolic issues.
Wherever someone is starting from, my role is to meet them where they are and help move things forward, one thoughtful step at a time.
Whether I’m guiding 1:1 clients toward sustainable health changes or supporting other health professionals with evidence-based insights on digestive or nutritional care, my approach is always rooted in evidence, empathy, and clarity
I didn’t always set out to become a Dietitian..
So how did I get here?
My journey began in Tahiti, and led me to New Zealand, where I initially pursued veterinary studies in the South Island. Life took an unexpected turn and brought me to Montreal, Canada.
There, I discovered that veterinary school wasn’t an option for international students. Almost by default, I enrolled in a nutrition program, and I haven’t looked back since.
What started as a backup plan quickly became a true calling. I was captivated by the profound relationship between nutrition, gut microbiota, and overall health and well-being, particularly given its involvement in numerous metabolic, autoimmune, and mental health disorders.
Today, I’m passionate about supporting individuals through the various phases of life, including active professional, maternity, postpartum, retirement, and beyond, helping them navigate health challenges with personalized nutrition care.
